About The Residentialist

The magazine

The Residentialist is a record of what goes into new homes worth documenting in Central Texas: the houses, the products inside them, and the places they're built.

Each issue features a small number of spec and custom homes. Many are on the market when their features run. Features publish as they are ready and are collected into issues.

What we document

Every featured home is visited in person by an editor.

An expensive house is easy to make look expensive. Photographs show the architecture, the kitchen, the stone, and the view. They don't show the windows, the insulation, the HVAC, the fixtures, the cabinetry, or the many smaller decisions that shape the house.

Each feature records that part: which products were chosen, how the major systems were handled, and who did the work.

Not every choice has to be the expensive one. Sometimes the modest product is the right decision.

Selection

Features are selected by the editorial team. There is no fee to be featured, and a feature cannot be purchased.

Agents, builders, architects, and designers are welcome to submit a home for consideration through the Submit a Home page.

The publisher

The Residentialist is published by a small editorial team based in Dripping Springs, Texas.
